One free, global, chronological conversation — the Feed, called Town. There is exactly one Town: there are no towns, and no new squares can be started. Anyone can post directly in Town, or share in a single original post from their own profile — their House — and every post enters Town exactly once, and only by its author's hand.
How it works
- Join free — display name and username (pseudonyms allowed, changeable anytime); joining is your agreement to the town rules, recorded at account creation
- At your House: post on your own profile without limits, with the same composer as Town; edit freely (marked “(edited)”), pin without limit, and export everything
- Two doors into Town, and only two: compose directly in Town, or use Share in Town on one of your own original posts — by your hand only
- Every post enters Town exactly once, ever — a second attempt is answered “Already in Town.” The Feed is one chronological stream, always
Price: Free (Accounts are always free — no paid tier, ever.)
Free forever — the product's law
Accounts are always free. No charge, no paid tier, ever — that is the founder's ruling, and it is the law of this product, not a launch offer that expires.
Money from users: none, ever. There is no checkout for Town, and there will be no paid Town account to buy.
One Town, and your House
Town is one chronological stream — bannered as the permanent default. Posts carry kind labels, but labels are never lanes: the stream is never split into separate feeds, and its filters find posts without dividing the town.
Your House is your own profile: unlimited posts with the identical composer, unlimited profile links, and your choice of theme, font, and layout. From your House, each original post can be shared into Town once, by your hand only — nobody can share your post in for you, and no chain of shares can bring it in again.
- Comments and reactions live on posts in Town
- Blocking is one-directional
- Neighbors are mutual, and the neighbor count is never displayed
- “Sit by” shows its count
- “Thinking of…” lets a post name who it is thinking of
- “Talk of the Town” is counted by distinct people only
- A category bell rings on the first post in a category each day, and the Town Board shows live counts
- Sharing a post outward carries the actual post with it
- Personal API keys exist per account — in the current test-mode build they are stored only, with no external service connected
The town's standing rules — the settled conduct suite
These rules are settled, with their numbers fixed. They are the town's standing conduct layer, agreed to at sign-up and recorded at account creation:
- Pace: at most 1 post every 2 minutes into Town, and at most 6 posts per hour
- Dedupe: the same post cannot enter Town twice — the anti-chain lock answers “Already in Town.”
- Quiet time: when the pace rules are hit, a quiet time applies before the next Town post, and repeat hits double the quiet time
- Reports: 3 distinct reports auto-hide a post; for bullying, 2 distinct reports auto-hide it
- Ownership: a post enters Town only by its author's hand — no one can put someone else's post into Town
- Family square: adult text is refused
- Profanity is shown with its middle blurred
Where it stands — the honest state
The town itself is not open yet. The Town build that exists today is a test-mode web companion: its prototype state persists locally per visitor, and it is not the town — it has no real accounts and no backend behind it.
The real town opens only with real accounts and backend hosting, and with the native app. Those releases are the founder's to make, and they have not happened: the native app's bundle-ID pick, App Store Connect record, provisioning, and TestFlight and submission steps are all still gated.
Today, this door does one honest thing: it takes the founding list. Joining below records your interest and your town. It does not create an account, it does not reserve a username, and it is not a sign-up for a working town, because no working town exists to sign up for yet. We will write to the founding list when the founder opens the town.
Join the founding list
This is the founding list — interest only. Leave your name and email, and, if you like, your town. This does not create a Town account, and there is no account to sign into yet. When the town opens, we will write to this list first.
